Re: Upgrade

You should not have to uninstall the previous version. Please provide the exact error and at what screen it is displayed. I will try to duplicate the error you are having.

Thank you!

Re: Upgrade

i am seeing the same thing. Looking into the zip, i found a .pdb file, which likely should not be there. I removed it, recreated the zip and tried installing. Now i get this:

Failure Found multiple .dnn files in the zip file: ITLackey.BuyNowButton.dnn and ._ITLackey.BuyNowButton.dnn

... and further down there is a reference to the missing pdb file. I don't mind being wrong, but pdb's are generally only needed for VS work, not client installs.

i couldn't wait for a reply, and fix it this way:

  1. upgraded dnn to 5.5
  2. rebuilt the zip to exclude the pdb file
  3. updated the dnn file to not refer to the pdb for the installation process.

..then it installed fine. Curious though why the install/defaults do not include a direct url to the standard paypal buy buttons.

If the original error you were seeing is that the package contains "invalid File Extensions." If so you simply need to use the "ignore file extensions" option in the install wizard. The multiple dnn file error is caused by recreating the install zip file.

Microsoft actually recommends including the debug symbols (.pdb) file with each release of your software. This is done for many reasons including helping to report errors in the software back to the vendor as well as allowing the customer to better understand the software if in fact they are developing code that interacts with it.

I will add the urls to the standard PayPal buttons in the next release. That is great feedback and I do appreciate it!

I apologize for the delay in response and am glad to hear that you were able to get it working. If you need to reinstall or install this module on a different portal please use the method stated above.

Thank you!
